Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses were able to save $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Each Pella® product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you notice a drop in your heating and cooling costs, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and custom-made for your home, meaning no two projects are the same. Our broad spectrum of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To expedite the process, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—as soon as the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the project and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad variety of high-grade products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Traverse City area home all the while.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the mix to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could produce streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They are required to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We seek out the best Traverse City-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. Aside from Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our specialty is selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Working with a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the knowledge of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.
